ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Water and Power Ch. Abid Sher Ali said on Thursday that Pakistan offers tremendous opportunities for investors in Power sector with generous incentives.
He was talking to a delegation of foreign investors headed by Javed Malik Pakistan’s Ambassador (Special Envoy for Foreign Investments) here on Thursday.
Abid Sher Ali said that there are tremendous opportunities for foreigner investor in power sector of Pakistan.
He informed the delegates that Pakistan offers generous incentives to investors in energy sector including one window policy provided by PPIB.
During the meeting Minister of State for Water and Power said that out of 2300MW installed capacity at present the share of private sector is 47 percent.
He apprised the delegates that investors in Pakistan are given exemption in income tax, sales tax and sales duty and protection is also given against change of law as well.
The other typical incentives are also given in hydro and coal fired project, he remarked.
Ch.Abid Sher Ali further said that Pakistan has coal reserves of approximately 190 bn tons.
Telling about present foreign investors he said that at present there are 29 projects which have been commissioned so far are run by international major groups.
He highlighted that present government encourages private investors to participate in power sector of Pakistan because “our ultimate vision is economic recovery of the country”.
