PESHAWAR: Third seeded Danish Atlas Khan and Aamir Atlas will clash in the all brother’s affairs final of the National Senior Squash Championship being played at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Wednesday.
Danish Atlas defeated Farhan Zaman in a thrilling four sets semi-final witnessed by capacity crowd present on this occasion while Aamir Atlas stretched to five sets battle against promising Bilal Zakir in the second semi-finals.
The final of the Championship will be played Thursday at 3.00 p.m. Danish Atlas, who recently won $6,000 Kish Persian Gulf Squash Cup at Olympic Squash Complex, Kish Island, Iran, defeated his elder brother and second seed Amir Atlas Khan 11-7, 10-12, 11-9, 11-8 in 70 minutes. Danish has won that tournament for the second time as he had won it in 2011 by defeating Yasir Butt 3-1. Last year, Amir had won this title by beating Nasir Iqbal 3-2.
Danish lost the first set by 9-11 but he click in the three consecutive sets by defeating Farhan Zaman. Danish Atlas faced tough time in the second set he won as the set was tied at 5-5, 6-6, 7-7, 8-8, 9-9 and 10-10 and at the end Danish won the set by 12-10. It was the third and fourth sets wherein Danish won the battle, the score was 11-9 and 11-8.
In the second semi-final played between former Asian Games gold medalist Aamir Atlas defeated Bilal Zakir by 3-2, the score was 6-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-7 11-1. Aamir Atlas lost the first two sets by 6-11 and 6-11 but he did not let Bilal Zakir to go through and came back strongly by winning three consecutive sets 11-7, 11-7 and 11-1. Aamir fully dominated the remaining three sets and marched into the victory 3-2.
