ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Tassaduq Hussain Gilani has taken suo moto notice of the discovery of mass graves near Tootak in Khuzdar and suumoned Inspector General Police Balochistan and Deputy Commissioner Khuzdar on February 4.
The notice was taken on Saturday on a report published in an English daily under the heading “Judicial probe into mass graves sought”, regarding the statement of Chairman of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), Nasrullah Baloch to the effect that in Khuzdar mass graves have been discovered and three of the dead bodies have been identified, which according to him are part of the missing persons list.
Baloch said according to Deputy Commissioner, Khuzdar as many as 25 bodies were recovered and he was expecting more.
The afore-referred news item, prima facie, reflects serious violation of Fundamental Rights provisions of the Constitution, the CJP observed in his order.
The 13 bodies were discovered in decomposed state in the mass graves by a local shepherd. The provincial government said on Friday a judicial inquiry would be conducted into matter.
