KARACHI: Graduation ceremony for around 100 Lab Technicians from interior Sindh was held at Baqai Medical University for academically eligible youngsters registered under the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Youth Development Program (BBSYDP – Sindh).
BMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Zahida Baqai on the occasion said unemployment, that has emerged to be a serious social issue, can be addressed through training programs chalked out on pragmatic lines and in accordance to the need of each of the provinces and the country in general.
She on the occasion offered BBSUDP to avail of training programs offered by the university in nursing, rural health and physiotherapy for the youth registered with it.
“We on a larger scale need to construct training programs for educated but unskilled youth as well as uneducated and semi-skilled youngsters,” said the senior educationist and healthcare provider.
Appreciative of the initiative taken through BBSUDP in the province, she said this could prove to bring about a revolution with meaningful employment opportunities in Sindh.
As for the four month training programs for Lab Technicians, Dr. Zahida Baqai said the field is extremely vast and that lab training is a branch of medical technology focused on restoration.
Congratulating the graduates for acquiring certificates in the hematology induced lab training, Dr. Baqai advised them to make concerted efforts for constant up gradation in their professional competency.
Prof. Syed Azhar Ahmad appreciative of Prof. Moinuddin and Dr. Rubina Ghani the chief trainers said the trainees were introduced to 166 relevant subjects during the 320 hours training program.
The trainees were divided into four groups and were also provided hands-on training besides theory by a group of 19 teachers, he said.
BBSYDP Representative, Dr. Mohammad Siddiq said the support extended by BMU in arranging medical cum technical training for youth would go a long way.
He on behalf of the Sindh Government also thanked the trainers for offering their services on absolute voluntary basis.
