KARACHI: Sindh province especially its largest city Karachi has great potential of energy generation which needs to be focussed. With limited investment we can generate energy at large scale here over a short span of time, said Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad Khan while presiding over a high level meeting on power generation here at the Governor House.
The Chief Executive Officers of Jamshoro, Larkana and Kotri power plants and Vice Chancellor of Nazir Hussain University, Dr. Naseem A.Khan and other senior officers attended the meeting, said an official statement here on Saturday.
The Governor was briefed on the supply , present status and storage capacity of the power plants. He was informed that all power plants were in good condition and were working at fifty percent of their capacity.
The Governor noted that Sindh is rich in natural resources. However, these have not been dully exploited so far.
He underlined the need for making every possible effort for generating energy. The existing plants have capacity to receive more supply and transmit more electricity, he said.
He said it is the first priority of the Government to come out of the energy crisis and it has been taking all the required steps as this hampers economic activity in the country and causes more un-employment.
