Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Islam-F chief Mualana Fazl-ur-Rehman on Sunday called for holding a Jirga of all political parties to devise a strategy against terrorism.
Addressing a public meeting here, Fazl said the use of force would further worsen the situation while dialogue was the only option to establish peace.
He said Islam had given a complete way of life while the West was trying hard against Islamic culture and norms.
The JUI-F chief said certain elements were out to sabotage peace in the region, besides destabilizing the democratic setup in Pakistan.
He alleged that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had failed to maintain peace, which was its responsibility. It should take concrete steps to combat terrorists.
Maulana Fazl claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf was running provincial government like a non-governmental organization. There was no writ of the government in the province, he said citing increased cases of extortion in Peshawar. On one hand, the people were chanting slogans against the United States and on the other, they were extending support to it, he added.
He said due to price hike, the common people were facing hardships.
