KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi, Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui has reconstituted vigilance cum raid teams engaged in the ongoing campaign against profiteers in the city.
Chairing a meeting Tuesday he also ordered strengthening of complaint centres established by the divisional administration in different markets of Karachi.
He said the vigilance teams must include representatives of all stakeholders alongwith the administrative officials so as to make the exercise more effective and meaningful.
The Commissioner also directed all Assistant Commissioners to personally listen to the complaints of the citizens and turn the crackdown against profiteers, hoarders and adulterators actually felt by the consumers.
“The administration is keen to protect rights of all stakeholders including retailers, however, will not allow any one to cross their limits,” said the commissioner.
He directed the officials concerned to also take action against wholesalers and poultry farmers responsible for hike in the price of products including chicken meat and eggs.
The Commissioner urged the officials concerned to ensure prominent display of officially approved price lists at all retail shops of edible items.
