Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai begins today

Bhitshah: The 270th annual Urs of the great Sindhi Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai started at Bhitshah in District Matiari on Wednesday.

The Urs will last for three days in which thousands of Bhittai’s lovers and path seekers have started to participate. Special temporary bazaars and stalls have been made for people also.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh has directed that extraordinary security measures be taken on the occasion of the Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai being marked on December 18.

A police statement here on Saturday said that IGP Sindh had instructed that there should be conspicuous deployment of police personnel at the Mazaar and the routes leading to it.

Police personnel in plain clothed be posted and mobile and motorcycle patrolling as well as the snap checking be made more effective.

The Sindh government has declared December 18 (today) as public holiday throughout the province on account of the Urs.
