KARACHI: The Sindh government has agreed to hold local bodies (LB) elections in the province on January 18 instead of March.
This was decided in a meeting at Chief Minister House here on Friday.
Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon confirmed the decision of the government for holding LB elections on January 18, 2014.
It is important to mention here that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday had canceled off a second request by the Sindh government seeking an extension in the date for holding local bodies (LB) polls in the province.
Chief Secretary Sindh had held a meeting with Acting Chief Election Commissioner and acknowledged him of the province’s unwillingness to hold polls on January 18.
However, the ECP had dismissed the request and decided to conduct LB polls in Sindh on January 18.
