ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Railway Khawaja Saad Rafique on Friday informed the Senate that railway ministry would remove all encroachments from railway land across the country.
Replying to a question of Senator Abdul Rauf, the minister said that 1007.203 acres of Railway land has been leased out to the provincial capitals in past adding that no land has leased during these six months of present government.
He said that land is leased out for the purpose of commercial, agriculture, material stacking and parking. The annul income form the said land is Rs.1858.38 million.
The minister said that there are 2442 railway crossing across the country adding that it is the responsibility of the provincial government to construct the railway crossing on railway tracks.
He said that government is taking action against the illegal possession on railway land and action would be continue without any political pressure.
