ISLAMABAD: President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCC&I), Dr. Shumail Dawood Friday said that Pakistan had rich potential in different sectors including textile and leather.
Talking to Pakistan Television channel, he said that people running the leather, textile and other sectors could avail the opportunity after the Generalized Scheme of Preferences (GSP) plus status and increased the exports to achieve the targets.
He said that Pakistani textile products held great potential and attraction in the European markets.
Besides leather products, mango exports could be increased in a proper manner after GSP plus status, he added.
Chairman All Pakistan Textile Manufacturing Association (APTMA), S.M.Tanvir said that credit went to the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Governor to get GSP plus status for Pakistan.
He said that the present government was focusing on different sectors to generate business activity and for this, special economic zone was being established to achieve the objectives.
Replying to a question he said that garment industrial sector was being set up in the Punjab area and in this connection, a piece of land had been acquired to promote this sector in an appropriate manner.
