LAHORE: Provincial Minister for Law and Local Government Rana Sanaullah has said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif stood for national harmony in the country while PTI Chairman Imran Khan promoted chaos.
Replying to the media persons at the Punjab Assembly premises here Monday, he said after show-off on drone attacks, PTI was now going to stage price-hike drama, adding that living-standard of five to ten percent people could be raised through the expenses which PTI would incur on the protest on December 22.
“PTI would be dealt with an iron hand, if it adopted the same methods like Hayatabad Toll Plaza for stopping NATO supplies in Punjab”, he responded.
To a query, Rana Sanaullah said that the opposition leader Mian Mehmood ur Rashid was ignorant of the law regarding contempt of court, adding that he should read the law before making any comment.
“Elections cannot be held in Punjab under Local Bodies Act as the process of delimitations has been completed on non-party basis”, he responded, saying “the law regarding delimitations will have to be amended for the purpose of conducting elections on party basis”.
To a query, he said that the Election Commission had fixed December 9 for the preparations of schedule and in the light of it, the process of dividing every union council in six wards is continuing which will be completed within a few days.
Sanaullah said that the elections on party basis did not mean that every party was bound to take part in elections, adding if a party was not interested to take part in the
elections above union council level, it could make it open.
The Provincial Law Minster hinted at vigorous crackdown against the elements involved in disrupting the peace of Punjab University.
He said that the untiring efforts by the law enforcement agencies had resulted in the arrest of Taliban elements from Punjab University.
Regarding the arrest of Taliban elements in the past, the Minister said that there were criminal elements in every society but it did not mean that lawlessness prevailed
