Federal Minister for Interior and Narcotics Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday said former army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani (retd) had set an example for serving the nation and military with his professional dedication. Chaudhry Nisar, in a statement here, said General Kayani had given a new dimension to the civil-military relations. He set a new chapter of advocating the cause of democracy in these relations.
The minister met former Army chief in the Army House and congratulated him on successfully completing his tenure. Nisar said the former army chief had not only proved himself as a thorough professional but also a steadfast and loyal to the country. He said he had himself witnessed General Kayani while advocating the case of integrity and sovereignty of Pakistan courageously in front of the external forces.
He said General Kayani kept himself aloof from the politics according to his oath. He also restored the professional dedication and earned respect for the armed forces which had been affected by his predecessor’s tenure. He led the Pakistan Army with wisdom in all challenging situations and set a definite roadmap and priorities for the Army which would also guide our armed forces in future increasing their professional capabilities, the minister added.
