KARACHI: A two-day exhibition by the Turkish artists commenced at a shopping mall here on Thursday evening under the auspices of the Turkish Consulate General.
It features four senior Turkish artists’ one hundred works that include marbling, tile painting, calligraphy and ornamentation.
The Consul General of Turkey in Karachi, Murat Onart, performed the inaugural ceremony.
He pointed out that 2014 has been declared as the `Turkey-Pakistan Cultural Year.
The Consul General said that a number of events would be organised in Pakistan as well as in Turkey to mark the occasion.
He said that this two-day event is also a part of the Cultural Year’s programmes.
Murat Onart said that the next event would be towards the end of next month and that the Sufi troupe from the shrine of Maulana Jalaluddin Roomy in Konya, Turkey will be present here.
The troupe will perform in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad from January 18 to 24.
The Consul General said that Turkey and Pakistan enjoy excellent friendly ties that are growing further with the passage of time.
He also referred to the very successful visits of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to Turkey in September and of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Pakistan on December 23 and 24.
