Christmas arrangements picks up momentum in twin cities

ISLAMABAD: Preparations for Christmas have picked up momentum in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, as Christian Community is busy making arrangements to celebrate the day with zeal and fervour.

Christians have started illuminating their homes and churches while shopping is in full swing.

Almost all the churches have been decorated with colourful lights and illuminated Christmas Trees.

The Christmas tree is usually decked with different ornaments, including baubles, small bells painted in gold or silver, stars of different shapes and sizes, pinecones, apples, candies, tinsel and balloons made from glass, metal, wood and ceramic.

Christmas is one of the biggest celebrations for the people belonging to the Christian faith. With the world becoming a global village, the spirit of Christmas crosses borders and people can see how enthusiastically the festival is celebrated at different places.

“We started Christmas preparations at end of November December by organising get-to-gathers and exchanging Christmas gifts and cards,” said Shehroz Masi, a private company employee.

The Christmas tree was a symbol of happiness and an important part of Christmas, adding that Christmas promoted brotherhood and love. “Preparations begin in early December and we have already begun sending invitations to friends and relatives,” Naveed a Christian said.

On the other hand, the sale of garments, shoes and gifts has increased in the business centers of the capital.

Special stalls have been arranged in the famous bazaars of Islamabad and customers can be seen thronging the markets, buying different decors, clothes and ingredients to make special dishes and confectioneries.

On the occasion of Christmas, the Christian community not only exchanges gifts but also makes special arrangements to decorate Christmas trees, which are the special center of customers’ attention.
