QUETTA: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has claimed that all arrangements have been finalized for local bodies’ polls in Balochistan on Saturday (today).
The ECP claimed Friday of making all arrangements for local bodies’ polls in Balochistan but many complaints emerged about incomplete or no delivery of polling material in many parts of the province including Quetta city on same day.
The last day before holding of LB polls was almost at its end on Friday evening but a part of the polling staff was still wandering for receiving the required goods for the polling day (today) in Quetta.
The polling staff needed to leave for their houses timely, after getting electoral items and delivering those to their concerned polling stations, to be able to reach in the assigned polling spots at 8.00am the next morning (today) but they were unable to move anywhere before getting the electoral goods.
Similar uncertain complaints came up from many other areas of the province till close of the last day (Friday).
At the other side, the Election Commission claimed that all arrangements have been completed and all related staff is satisfied with those.
There are over 7000 local bodies’ seats in Balochistan and more than 2500 candidates have been already elected unopposed across the province. Now, total 18,000 candidates are competing on remaining 4000 plus LB seats of the province.
More than fifty percent of the formed polling stations have been declared sensitive and near about 50 thousand security men including army troops have been deployed for guarding LB polls in Balochistan this day.
