ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Friday said that future of the country rests in hands of young generation and our youth have potential and abilities to meet the challenges confronting the nation.
He was talking to a group of participants and faculty members of the Contemporary Studies, National Defence University (NDU), who called on him at the Parliament House.
The Speaker said that nation has a lot of expectations from its youth and they should equip themselves of modern technology and work hard to cope with the challenges being faced by country and come up to the expectations of the nation.
He said Pakistan is facing menace of terrorism and extremism that had disrupted civic life of citizens and economic activity in the country and the government is trying to indigenously address the root causes of this menace. “We are committed to peace and stability and elimination of extremism and terrorism in the country as well as in the region.”
The Speaker said all political parties in Pakistan are on the same page on the issues of national importance as he called upon the youth to come forward and join hand for prosperity and development of the country.
Speaker shared with the participants the composition, working and functioning of the National Assembly and its Standing Committees and informed about austerity measures introduced in the National Assembly Secretariat.
The Speaker also responded to questions raised by participants and expressed desire to devise training program or course on Parliamentary Practices and Legislative Drafting for universities and educational institution.
Head of Contemporary Studies Department, NDU thanked the Speaker for briefing on National Assembly activities and offered support to its Secretariat and Pakistan Institute of
Parliamentary Services (PIPS) for curriculum and capacity building of Parliamentarians and supporting staff. Souvenirs were also exchanged by the Speaker and the Head of Department.
