KARACHI: Homage was paid to great Muslim philosopher, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, at a function organised by the Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) at its premises here on Friday to mark his birth anniversary.
The birth anniversary of Dr Allama Mohammad Iqbal was organised by SMIU at its auditorium on Friday.
Vice Chancellor of SMIU, Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh said Allama Mohammad Iqbal was a great thinker and Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah was a great practical man so when these two towering personalities met with each other then a creation of a new country named Pakistan happened.
Dr Shaikh said that when Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah started practice of law in England, then it was Allama Iqbal, who convinced him to come back and lead the Muslim nation.
“In this regard Allama Mohammad Iqbal had written many letters to Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and tried to convince him to come back to united india,” Dr Shaikh said and added that after that Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah realised his role and return back to his homeland.
Dr Shaikh said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah had great love and reverence for Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal, and that was shown by the Quaid on occasion, when Pakistan Resolution was passed on March 23, 1940 at Lahore.
Dr Shaikh further said that when no one had solution of problems facing by Muslims in united India, then it was Allama Mohammad Iqbal, who gave a concept of creation of a new Muslims state in the united India, and that dream was materialised by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah through his dynamic leadership.
He emphasised the students to follow the philosophy of Allama Iqbal that was beyond any discrimination of language, ethnicity, colour and creed.
Dr Anjum Bano Kazmi, Dean of Department of Education said that the young generation of the country must follow the philosophy of Allama Iqbal that is for love, peace, patriotism, tolerance and progress.
Dr Rukhsar Ahmed, Dean of Business Administration, Night Fatima, Principal of SMIU Boys Model School and faculty members of SMIU Dr Syed Asif Ali Syed Adnan Hassan, Shumaila Kashif, Aasma Amanullah Khoso and Nosheen Hussain also paid rich tributes to the poet of the East.
The programme was attended by students, deans, Dr Fouzia Nadeem Khan, Dr Seema Jilani, Dr Safeeullah Soomro, faculty and students of SMIU, and the teachers of SMIU Boys Model School and SMIU Girls Model School.
