KARACHI: Owing to effective and coordinated measures being undertaken, the security situation in the province is improving.
This was stated by Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat- ul- Ebad Khan, here on Tuesday.
He was talking to the Consul Generals of the United States and Sri Lanka, Micheal Dodman, and H.M.B. Herath, respectively who called on him separately at the Governor House.
The Acting Consul General of the United Arab Emirates, Bakeet Atiq, also met with Dr. Ishrat- ul- Ebad Khan.
The Governor said that improvement in law and order is also enhancing the confidence of the people.
He made it clear that the government is determined for the maintenance of law and order in the province on permanent basis.
Ebad further pointed out that because of conducive environment, the foreign investors are desirous of investment in Sindh especially in the city of Karachi.
He was of the view that another example of betterment in situation is the rising prices of property, upbeat Stock Exchange and improvement in tax recovery.
The Governor pointed out that this is for the first time that all the political parties are unanimous that lasting peace in the metropolis is a guarantee for development in the country.
He said that the federal government has provided resources so that the province as well as the city of Karachi be made a citadel of peace soon.
Ebad stated that for the past many decades Karachi is generating over 60 percent of the country’s revenue.
He said that the multinational companies that are doing business for quite some time now are expanding their businesses.
Dr. Ishrat said that by providing employment opportunities the problem of poverty can be tackled which is the biggest challenge at present.
He asked the Consul Generals to persuade the investors of their countries to come up with investment here and that the government would provide all the necessary assistance in this regard.
