PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and its allied parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government including are stagingsit-in on Saturday to register protest against drone strikes.
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Awami Jamhoori Ittehad (AJIP) have confirmed their participation in protest rally. The JI rally will be headed by Central General Secretary Liaqat Baloch while Shahram Taraki would lead AJIP.
Party workers of PTI and JI have arrived Peshawar from various parts of the country to participate in sit-in. PTI chief Imran Khan was expected to join the protest rally in the noon.
The call of sit-in was given by PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government.
According to the programme, the participants would gather at Ring Road where party leaders would address the gathering at about 04:00 pm.
Ring Road, the main supply route for Nato and Pak-Afghan border at Torkham were blocked for vehicular traffic due to the protest rally.
The provincial government has also finalized security and traffic plan for the protest demonstration and above 500 police personnel have been deployed to ensure safety and order.
Transporters have aslo been directed to use alternative routes.
