KARACHI: The illegal hydrants in the metropolis should be closed within seven days. This was directed by the Sindh Minister for Information and Local Bodies, Sharjeel Inam Memon.
A statement here on Monday said that he issued directive to this effect to the Managing Director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB).
The Minister said that in case of the existence of any illegal hydrant in the area, action would be initiated against the incharge and that the Station House Officer (SHO) of the respective police station would also be held equally responsible.
He also instructed the Managing Director of the KWSB to initiate a crackdown against the illegal hydrants in the metropolis and remove these within seven days’ time.
Sharjeel Memon said that provision of clean drinking water to the people is the prime responsibility of the government.
