ISLAMABAD: Former Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan Kanwar Muhammad Dilshad has said that LB polls cannot be held in such a short span of time as lot of work has yet to be done particularly the delimitation of constituencies.
Talking to Radio Pakistan, Kanwar Dilshad said that unanimous resolution passed by the National Assembly is based on rightful facts.
He said polls held in haste will affect the creditability of the Election Commission as well as of election results.
He further said that the ECP would now send a Reference to the Supreme Court in the light of the NA Resolution seeking advice from the Apex Court for the deferment of polls.
He added if Supreme Court does not agree, then the Commission will be bound to hold elections on the given dates.
Former Secretary added that the Supreme Court, the ECP and Parliament are national institutions and they have to take decisions in national interest.
