ISLAMABAD: Indian troops snatched cameras and deleted pictures taken by two photojournalists in occupied Kashmir, when they were taking photographs after an attack by unknown attackers on an Army convoy in Darugmulla area of Kupwara.
“An Army major abused us and snatched our camera when he saw us taking pictures. We told him that we are performing our professional duty but he didn’t listen and deleted the pictures by formatting camera memory cards,” the two photojournalists, Abid and Firdous, told media men, KMS reported.
Five Indian troops were injured in the attack in Darugmulla area of Kupwara on Saturday.
Meanwhile, North Kashmir Journalists Association in a statement condemned the Army’s highhandedness, demanding probe into the incident.
On the other hand, Indian Army and police launched a massive search operation in many villages of the district including Drugmulla, Chayelpati, Dogermohalla and Waterkhani after the attack to track down the assailants.
