KARACHI: There are ample opportunities in Sindh for power generation projects.
This was stated by Governor of Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, here on Wednesday.
He was talking to a delegation of the Chinese firm- CWPC, headed by Li Ren Chao, and chairman of KASB Bank, Arif Ali Shah Bukhari, at the Governor House here.
The Governor said that electricity can also be generated from the coal and the garbage.
He pointed out that more than 10,000 tons of garbage is available daily in Karachi for power generation whereas coal-based power projects can be initiated near the port.
The Chinese firm which has extensive experience of generating electricity from the garbage and coal, has expressed interest to initiate such projects, it was further pointed out.
Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan also referred to the close friendly ties between Pakistan and China.
He said that there are immense opportunities for further increasing the economic collaboration between the two countries.
Li Ren Chao informed on the occasion that his company is planning a power project onm Port Qasim here.
The Governor said that there is a win-win situation for the investors in Sindh especially in Karachi.
The government of Sindh will extend its full assistance in this regard, he added.
