Rape accused remanded in police custody for five days

KARACHI: A judicial magistrate remanded a man for five days in police custody who allegedly raped a 20-year-old girl and threw her from his flat in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority, media reported on Tuesday.

The accused person was presented in Karachi’s District and Sessions Court (South) where a judicial magistrate remanded him for five days.

According to SSP-South Munir Ahmed Sheikh, the girl was “tricked” by the suspect from the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Clifton on October 21. He said the girl sustained head injuries after she was thrown from the flat. She also suffered leg fractures. She was admitted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for treatment.

The SSP, who visited the JPMC, said the girl in her statement told the police that she was raped and thrown from the second floor of the building by the suspect.

The senior officer claimed that the suspect was a “habitual offender”.
