Police officers’ killer arrested in Karachi


KARACHI: Mystery of SHO Irfan Haider and Investigation Officer Shahbaz Ali’s murders has been solved by the police after arresting one member of the killers’ gang in Karachi on Tuesday, media reports.

Sir Syed Police Station’s SHO, Irfan Haider and New Karachi Police Station’s Investigation Officer, Shahbaz Ali, were sitting near a mosque, seven days ago in New Karachi area, when some unidentified armed attackers opened fire at them and fled away, leaving both dead on the spot.

Police launched a robust search for the culprits involved in killings of police officers and finally managed to capture one gangster, Azhar Mehmood, for involvement in the murders.

A clash between the gangsters and police started from the animal market and real target of the attcakers was SHO Irfan Haider but the investigation officer also turned victim of the firing on day of killings, told police.

Police have launched raids to trace and arrest other accomplices of the held killer.
