PMA seeks action against extortionists in Karachi


KARACHI: Pakistan Medical Association has condemned the killing of Dr. Abdul Ghani associated with Lyari General Hospital and demanded action against extortionists.

In a joint statement on Friday the President, PMA – Centre, Dr. Akhter Jadoon and President, PMA – Sindh, Dr. Mohammad Idris and other senior member of the association including Prof. Tipu Sultan, Dr. Qazi Wasiq, Dr. Mirza Ali Azhar and Dr. Qaiser Sajjad said killings in city mainly a handiwork of criminals have to be stopped urgently.

Strict and across the board action against criminals mainly the extortionists, commonly known as “Bhatta Mafia” is the solution, they said.

The PMA members said that harassment of doctors followed by instances of abduction and murder is a chain of events that needed to be shattered through strong sense of commitment on part of the concerned authorities.

They also demanded immediate and fool proof measures for the security of doctor’s along with citizens in general.
