PM’s US visit to help enhance economic, trade ties: Pervaiz Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Pervaiz Rashid on Wednesday hoped that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s visit would result in enhancing trade and economic cooperation with the United States.

Pakistan wanted access to the American market for boosting its economy rather than getting aid, he added.

Talking to PTV, Rashid said the government was addressing all issues, including terrorism, economy and energy crisis diligently. Pakistan’s foreign policy could help to strengthen its internal policies, he added.

Replying to a question, he said the PML-N government had raised the issue of drone attacks with the United Nations Security Council and General Assembly sessions as it was against the country’s sovereignty and also counter-productive.

The Information Minister said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would convince the international community on Pakistan’s stance regarding drone attacks. Pakistan was a part of solution to the issue of terrorism, he added.

Answering another query, he said it was good a sign that the international community was considering Pakistan’s stance on drone attacks.

Pakistan respects the sovereignty of every country and also expects the same from others, he added.
