PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Monday decided to raise a separate force for the security of prisons in the province, media reports.
According to details gathered from the provincial Interior Ministry, personnel will be inducted separately for the proposed force who will be given special training at a centre to be exclusively established for the purpose.
The force will be equipped with latest weaponry and hardware while bullet-proof vests will also be provided to all the personnel.
The provincial government, which is led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has set up a committee to oversee the implementation of its decision.
The decision followed after a massive jailbreak in Dera Ismail Khan earlier this year in July in which over 250 dangerous militants escaped.
