IHC moved to put Musharraf’s name on ECL

ISLAMABAD: A petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court Thursday morning to prevent former dictator General (retd) Pervez Musharraf from leaving the country by placing his name in the exit control list (ECL), following the bail granted by the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Petitioner in Abdul Rasheed Ghazi murder case, Haroon Rasheed stated that Musharraf’s name should be put in the ECL as it has been learnt that he intends to leave for Dubai before Eid. The applicant prayed before the court that the former president should be stopped from traveling abroad as he was allegedly involved in the murder of his father.

He further contended that like former ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani, Musharraf’s chances of returning to the country will fade if he leaves the country.
Moreover, Haroon Rasheed pleaded the court to order police to conclude the investigations.
The SC on Wednesday granted bail to former president Pervez Musharraf in the murder case of former Balochistan chief minister and chieftain of the Bugti tribe Nawab Muhammad Akbar Bugti.

Ahmed Raza Kasuri, the head of lawyers panel, claimed after the bail that his client was a free person and could go to Dubai any time. The former army chief had filed an appeal in the apex court against the Balochistan High Court’s rejection of his bail application in the Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case.
