Heroin found on Pakistan flight to London

Karachi: Pakistan Customs seized five kilograms of heroin worth millions of rupees from the toilet of the national flag carrier flight to be flown to London on Friday.

A spokesman of Pakistan Customs said that the Drug Enforcement Cell of the Customs seized five kilograms heroin recovered from the toilet of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft at Jinnnah International Airport.

The flight PK 787 was brought out from the hanger to be departed for London.

In the international market five kilograms of heroin could fetch over $500,000 (Dh1.8 million), an official said.

The spokesman said that heroin recovered through routine checking and sniffer dogs traced the drugs which were hidden in the secret chambers of the plane’s toilets.

A joint team of aviation staff, airport security force and other agencies search the plane.

The Customs official said that the First Information Report (FIR) was lodged at the police station for further investigations.
