KARACHI: Eid-ul-Azha was celebrated in Karachi with great religious zeal and fervour on Wednesday.
The day started with Eid prayers in mosques and open grounds and was followed by sacrifices of animals.
The faithful specially prayed for the security and welfare of the country on this occasion.
The ulema and religious scholars prayed for the solidarity and prosperity of the country in their sermons and also highlighted the importance of sacrifice.
Sindh Governor, Dr. Ishrat-ul- Ebad offered his Eid prayers at the Governor House mosque along with the diplomats of the Islamic countries in Karachi.
Huge congregations of Eid prayers were also held at Nishtar Park, Nazimabad Eidgah, Mehfil Shah-e- Khurasan, New Memon Masjid, Sabeel Wali Masjid, Jinnah Ground, Masjid Khair-ul- Amal and scores of other mosques and open placed across the megapolis.
Strict security arrangements were made by the police and rangers for Eid prayers. However, no untoward incident including snatching of hides was reported from any part of the city.
Municipal Administration also made elaborate arrangements for removal of offal from the streets and roads.
