ISLAMABAD: Election Commission has convened a meeting on Monday to discuss Local Bodies elections.
All four members of the Commission and Provincial Election Commissioners will attend the meeting.
Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to hold local bodies elections on dates given by provinces.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Choudhry, while hearing a case regarding local bodies elections in the country, observed that the court can’t grant more time in this regard.
The bench said that Punjab and Balochistan provincial governments have informed the court that they are ready to hold local bodies elections on December 7, while Sindh government is ready to hold elections on November 27.
During the proceedings, Election Commission requested more time, which was rejected by the court.
Chief Justice Choudhry ordered the ECP to hold elections dates submitted by provinces.
The provincial KPK government has yet to submit a date.
