Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt released on parole

MUMBAI: India actor Sanjay Dutt has been granted 14 days furlough for treatment of his leg, Indian media reports said.

He has already left from the Yerwada prison where he is serving a 42-month sentence for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blasts. Sanjay Dutt was convicted for possessing illegal arms.

The Yerwada prison authorities have cancelled a play that Sanjay Dutt was supposed to participate in.

A furlough is leave of absence from prison granted to a prisoner by the jail authorities and differs from a parole that is granted by the court.
