KAKUL: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani reiterated on Saturday that the Pakistan Army is ready to use force against militants if required.
He said that the Pakistan Army supports the initiative taken by political leadership to hold peace talks with the militants but stressed dialogues should be held within the ambit of the constitution of Pakistan. However, he asserted use of force will be the last option if proposed talks with the militants fail.
He dispelled the impression that the decision to hold peace talks with militants was taken after failure of the military operation against the militants.
Addressing the 128th PMA long course passing out parade at the military academy Kakul, Gen Kayani stressed upon the continuity of the democratic process, adding it is a positive thing that the democratic government completed its tenure for the first time in the country’s history.
He reiterated that the Pakistan army would continue to play its role for strengthening of the democratic system.
Gen. Kayani also stressed over better coordination between the civil, military leadership for the betterment of the country.
“Pakistan can be stronger only if the people stand by the army in these tough times,” he said.
He congratulated the passing out cadets and hoped that they will follow the golden principles of Quaid-e-Azam
