Anti-graft court hears five references against Zardari

ISLAMABAD: The Accountability Court (AC) on Tuesday heard five corruption references against former President Asif Ali Zardari, media reported.

The cases against Zardari, who enjoyed immunity for being head of the state in the past, reopened by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) are: ARY Gold reference, SGS-Cotecna, Polo Ground reference, Ursus Tractors case and asset case.

Zardari’s counsel Farooq H.Naik and Additional Prosecutor General NAB, Akbar Tarar, turned up before the AC Judge Muhammad Bashir in today’s proceeding.

Naik prayed for time for preparation of contention over reopening of cases, saying that he has to leave for foreign visits and will return next month, whereas Akbar Tarar argued that references against Zardari be reopened without any delay.

The court later adjourned the hearing till 26 Nov.
