Afridi seems unhappy with Plessis penalty

KARACHI: Star all-rounder Shahid Afridi on Saturday called upon the world cricket body to treat equally to all teams.

His reaction comes after South African cricketer Faf du Plessis was fined only 50% of the match fee by an ICC match referee on charges of tampering the ball.

Television footage showed Faf du Plessis rubbing the ball against zipper of his trouser pocket, while a second clip showed another player appearing to pick at the side of the ball with his finger.

“Our crickets should not be subjected to discriminatory treatment by the International Cricket Council (ICC),” Afridi said while speaking to reporters in Karachi.

About the ongoing second Test, he said that South Africa was trying to win the match to draw the series.

The all-rounder said that batsmen needed to realize their responsibility to produce better results.
