Special plan being prepared for security of minorities: NA told

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Ch. Nisar Ali Khan has said that a meeting of the Christian leaders is being convened within the new few days to discuss a national level plan for security of places of worship and resolution of the problems of the minorities.

He was making a policy statement on Peshawar Church tragedy in the National Assembly on Monday.

The Interior Minister said the repair of the Peshawar Church would be carried out at the Government’s expense. He said in all 81 people were killed and another 137 injured in the dastardly attack. Ch. Nisar Ali Khan said one militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack and the Government would follow the said group.

The Interior Minister informed the House that death toll in yesterday’s Church blasts in Peshawar has reached to eighty-one including thirty-four women and seven children. He said one hundred and thirty-seven people injured in the incident and ten of them are in critical condition.

He assured the House that the culprits involved in this terrorist incident will be brought to justice.

He said a policy‚ programme and network will be prepared for the security of their worship places.

He said we should give a message of unity on this occasion and should not do politics on such kind of tragedies. He said we have to work together to eliminate the terrorists.

The Interior Minister said a Group has accepted the responsibility of the incident but he said it was doubtful because that Group has no presence over there.

Giving details of the incident‚ he said it happened at 11.40 a.m. when the Christian Community was busy in their worship. He said there were four security personnel on duty including a Sub-Inspector‚ Head Constable and two FC jawans. He said one suicide bomber entered the Church and blew him. In this attack FC jawan Zahid Gul was also martyred and Police Head Constable injured. The other entered from other side and blew himself.

The Minister appreciated the role of Christian leaders and priests who demonstrated patience and also asked their people to do so.

He strongly condemned the inhuman act and assured every kind of help from the Federal Government to the KPK Government particularly for treatment of the injured.

The House also offered Fateha for the martyred security personnel in the incident.
