OKARA: Senior Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Sirajul Haq has said that allegations regarding using state machinery to influence the results of by-polls in NA-25 Dera Ismail Khan-cum-Tank are baseless.
Talking to media persons here on Friday, Siraj ul Haq said that state machinery and resources can’t change the mood of masses when they were committed to achieve any task.
He said that KP government remained impartial in the by-elections and those shouting about rigging in polls were trying to avert the masses attention away of their shameful defeat in home constituency.
The Election Commission thoroughly monitored the by-polls through its network and if there was any complaint then EC would have publicize it.
To a question regarding mediation between the federal government and Taliban, Sirajul Haq said that KP can’t do so as Taliban are present in tribal areas which were being administered by federal government and provincial government hasn’t any influence or authority in those areas.
He rejected the reports regarding contacts between government and Taliban for negotiation. The KP senior minister urged the PML-N led central government to at least constitute committee for Taliban leadership to take them into confidence for talks.
