ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Parliamentarians from Sindh led by Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah called on President Asif Ali Zardari here at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Thursday.
The delegation besides Chief Minister Sindh included among others Senator Mian Raza Rabbani, Senator A. Rehman Malik, Senator Salim H. Mandviwala, Syed Naveed Qamar, Sharjeel Memon and Syed Murad Qureshi.
The parliamentarians appreciated the President‘s policy of tolerance and reconciliation, which they said played a key role in further solidifying democracy and also made possible a smooth transfer of power from one elected government to other.
Spokesperson to the President Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the participants of the meeting felicitated the President for successfully completing his five years tenure as President and praised high his efforts for strengthening democracy and democratic institutions in the country and also for the current smooth transition of powers.
The President said “We have raised the bar of tolerance and took the road of reconciliation to strengthen democracy, urging the need for continued journey along this road for the sake of democracy.”
The President termed the ongoing smooth democratic transition a historic achievement for all and complimented Parliamentarians, political forces and the entire nation for the first democratic transition in the country. NNI
