ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has decaled null and void the membership of a ruling party’s member of Punjab Assembly.
Iftikhar Ahmed was elected from PP-81 constituency of Jhang district on the ticket of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). But a petition was filed against his eligibility for having a fake degree.
The Supreme Court after hearing the case against the PML-N MPA directed the Election Commission of Pakistan to disqualify Iftikhar Ahmed’s membership.
The commission would now issue new schedule for holding polls in the constituency on the vacant seat.
