HYDERABAD/MIRPURKHAS: Different cities of Sindh remained under the grips of tension following the arrest of MQM’s former lawmaker over charges of two policemen’s murder in Karachi.
Nadeem Hashmi was arrested late on Tuesday over suspected involvement in the murders of two policemen in Karachi’s North Nazimabad area and was subsequently shifted to the Pirabad police station. A case was registered against him.
Reports said business activities, schools and transport was closed in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Tando Allahyar, Nawabshah.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain and party’s Coordination Committee has condemned the arrest of Hashmi who is MQM’s Unit Incharge and former Sindh Assembly member.
Violence gripped Karachi where shops, markets, filling stations were closed. Public transport and traffic remained sparse on roads.
Two persons were killed in separate incidents of gun-related violence. Three vehicles were torched in different areas.
