KARACHI: Religious scholars of the country have taken strong exception to the incidents of terrorism and violence committed, under pretext of religion, by extremist elements.
Sahibzada Sultan Faizul Hassan, Professor Ijaz Mehmood Qadri and others in a statement issued on Monday said a true follower of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) will never harm any innocent nor indulge in any immoral activity.
They said heinous crimes committed by a few fanatical individuals with Muslim names should not be the yardstick to judge Islam.
The scholars were of the opinion that it would be appropriate for all muslims as well as non muslims, with even an iota of doubt about religion – terrorism link, to refer to the Quran and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
THESE are explicit in their prohibition of any form of injustice, said Sahibzada Sultan Faizul Hassan and Ijaz Mehmood Qadri.
They said that Quran turns our attention to the high value of human life and forbids forced death without any plausible justification.
The gravity of such a crime is equated, in the Quran, with the killing of all humanity, said Qadri.
