ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) turned down the invitation of farewell luncheon, which has been arranged by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the honour of President Asif Ali Zardari.
Sources said that the prime minister has invited provincial governors, chief ministers, chief of the army staff and the chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee to the farewell luncheon.
The heads of all the political parties have also been invited at the reception.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has also been invited by PM, but PTI denied to accept the invitation.
Governor and Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan, PM Azad Jammu and Kashmir, former premiers Yousuf Raza Gilani and Raja Pervez Ashraf are also invited for the luncheon.
It is a unique occasion in the history of Pakistan that a democratically elected President is leaving his office with dignity and honour after completing his tenure while the newly elected President is about to take charge of the office.
According to the sources, PTI is not attending this farewell luncheon.
