ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has pledged to transform Pakistan into a peaceful and economically viable state.
He was speaking at a special meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad Tuesday.
He said terrorism and extremism have badly affected economic activities in the country and this state of affairs is no more tolerable.
The Prime Minister said corruption and bad governance have destroyed the institutions including Pakistan International Airlines. Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said PIA is receiving billions of rupees bailout package on monthly basis‚ which could be diverted to the energy projects. He hoped this will yield better results to control load shedding.
The Prime Minister directed to upgrade Pakistan International Airlines on the footprints of Malasian Airlines.
Earlier‚ a Malaysian delegation briefed the cabinet about rapid progress in various sectors in Malaysia including Agriculture‚ Tourism‚ Swift Airlines and Microsoft.
The delegation also briefed the meeting on greater Kuala Lumpur project.
The Prime Minister appreciated the former Malasian Prime Minister Mahateer Mohammad’s development plan.
