Peshawar tandoor owners go on shutter down strike

PESHAWAR: Tandoor owners in a bid to get their demand accepted observing a shutter down strike in the provincial capital city on Tuesday here.

While a few tandoors clandestinely operating fleecing the thronging customers by charging Rs15/- for a ‘nan’ (bread) as against the normal days rate of Rs6/-.

Peshawar Anjuman Nanbaiyan Association had demanded from the district administration an increase in the price of bread in view of the flour price hikes, which was subsequently rejected and ordered that the tandoor owners should continue selling the bread at the current fixed price.

Later, the tandoor owners had issued an ultimatum for acceptance of their demand until September 2 failing which they would close down their tandoors.
