Peshawar church blast: Police arrest six suspects

PESHAWAR: At least six suspects were detained on Tuesday during investigation of Sunday’s terrorist attack on a Peshawar church. Hand grenades and two pistols were also recovered from the blast site.

According to investigation officers, the attackers were not foreigners and further investigation is underway to ascertain their identity.

Earlier, the special investigation team made a startling revelation that one of the suicide bombers could possibly be a young lady aged between 20-25 years.

The death toll from twin suicide bombings rose to 83 as two more victims succumbed to their injuries at the city’s Lady Reading Hospital.

The attack on All Saints church in the city is believed to be the deadliest ever to target the country’s small Christian minority.

Christians demonstrated in towns and cities across Pakistan, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi and Peshawar, demanding better protection by authorities.
