ISLAMABAD: The city police arrested two supervisors of Capital Development Authority (CDA) and four policemen in Sabzi Mandi bhatta case at the behest of Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
According to the Interior Minister, the federal minister took serious notice of involvement of CDA men and police personnel in the extortion activities underway in the federal capital’s vegetable market.
Chaudhry Nisar noted bhatta mafia men alone are not to blame; police and CDA staffers who protected them for 12 years now, are equally culpable, ordering to immediately arrest any personnel who is involved in bhatta activities.
If any such activity takes place in Islamabad in future, a case against the concerned government official will be lodged, he added.
The federal interior minister said it is unbearable to see the government functionaries unaware of the people’s miseries.
According to the sources of interior ministry, moving on the directives of federal interior minister, police expeditiously arrested two CDA supervisors and four policemen for protecting bhatta activities.
The arrested include CDA supervisors Sagheer and Ghafoor and police ASI Ishaq, ASI Saeed, head constable Sarfaraz and Constable Agha Shah.
