ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday appointed new Inspector General of Police for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province following yesterday’s deadly church bombings that killed over 80 people including women and children.
The federal government has replaced IGP KP Ahsan Ghani. Nasir Durrani has taken charge as new IGP KP.
Sources said that the KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has recommended to the federal government for the replacement of Ghani. Upon KP government’s recommendation, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved the posting of Durrani as IGP KP.
Prior to his fresh posting, Durrani was serving as Additional IG Special Branch in Punjab. He had also served as SSP Islamabad.
