MQM’s ex-UC nazim among five shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: Despite police and Rangers’ operation in Karachi, violence continued to haunt the city, claiming five more lives today (Tuesday).

Police said a former Union Council Nazim of MQM, Rasheed Ahmed, was also among those killed in firing incidents since last night. He was shot dead in Orangi Town area when armed attackers targeted him near a football ground.

Other firing incidents were reported in Chakiwara area of Lyari town, Malir Halt, Guru Mandir and New Karachi areas where four people were gunned down.

Meanwhile, paramilitary Rangers conducted raids in Pathan Colony of SITE industrial area and arrested seven suspected criminal affiliated with different political groups. Weapons were also recovered from them, Rangers spokesman said.
